Military Rank. this page has links to the wiki for Ranks of the Military of most countries at the bottom of the page. Military Ranks And Military Ranks Comparisons

This site provides a lot of detailed information, not only on Navy organization, but about actually serving aboard ship. Lot of details here that can add some color and depth to a story. Ready for Sea Handbook

List of Navy Ship classes in service.

Feel free to add anything you find.

I've been trying to find one location that would provide an idea of a crew size for various ship types but it seems it varies so much the information is hard to find. I did run across this site that gives an idea of what a WWI British Navy ship's crew was like, positions and counts.

With modern technology, the positions would change a bit, some added for the new tech and maybe a lot less needed in other areas do to automation. But at least it's a starting point.

Was checking some details and put together this reference. I'm sure they'll be a deference in scale for spacecraft but it does give you a starting point.

Relative combat ship size by length:

Aircraft Carrier - 800-1100 feet
Battleship - 800-900 feet
Heavy Cruiser - approx. 700 feet
Light Cruiser - approx. 600 feet
Destroyer - approx. 550 feet
Guided Missile Destroyer - approx. 500 feet
Frigate - typically 400-450 feet
Patrol boats, Corvettes and Littoral Combat Ships - typically around 300-420 feet

Note: Ship designations are also relative to armament and purpose, and not size alone.
