Sounds like a great service. Any details you can provide I'm sure would be much a appreciated by everyone. I'm certainly interested.

The link is: https://www.bookbub.com/partners/pricing

It the top independent advertiser for ebooks.  About 3-4 time bigger than the nearest competition.  They send and email out to their list and charge a fee not a percentage.

About $400 for a temporary discounted to 0.99c sci-fi book.  Email to their Usa readers is $320, add to their .ca (canada) is $20 and UKreader are $80

They have more than a million reader base.

what they are looking for:

1) Books with good covers

2) Good product descriptions

3) Many reviews

4) Flexible advertising dates

5) a book discounted more than 50% regular price during the day of the ad

If you don't get accepted right away try again later.  I got on first time but lots of authors complained they had to get new covers and keep applying multiple time before being accepted over on kboards.

From what I can see they cover most all genre's and the price per ad varies per genre.

For sci-fi they said expect an average of 1600 buys and so far I've got about 1700 after 2 days so I'm doing a bit better than the average.

Expect the vast majority of your sales to happen the first day of your ad running.

I don't know residual sales for a series yet compared to baseline (I generally get a 50% buy through from 1st book to 2nd) but I've heard other authors complain it not a good a your traditional buy through rate and expect it to trickle in over a week, not sure what that means but I'll report back later.

I more than doubled my total ad budget and the amount I spent on just the bub ad alone earned tripled what I spent on bookbub from the 1700 I've sold so far.  The residual for the rest of the series is just going to be money in the bank.

Can't think of anything else right now  so have a good one!

Sounds like it was well worth it. I wonder how much of it will spill over to the rest of the books in the series. You'd think that at least some people would want to keep going.

I had a combined 38/13 traditional/unlimited sales for Gambit yesterday, the rest of the series is lagging still.

Hope the info helped.

The info helps a lot and I'm sure many people will find it useful. With your permission I'd like to move it to its own thread so more people will see it.

I expect it will take a while for the numbers to roll through all the books. A lot of people will read a chapter a night. Some will do a book over the weekend or finish one they were reading before bed during the week. Let's say 1-2 weeks per book.

Go ahead!  I think that would be great.  I want to help others as much as I can.

Thanks for the info. I looked at the site and was reading the stuff. I'm a little confused about the discount thing. Is arranging a discount required? How does that work?

Wow, thanks for the thread and keep us posted on the numbers. Did you discount the book with the promotion and how much if you did?

Irish La: I dropped the book price from 2.99 to 0.99 for the bub promo and a 50% discount of regular price for the day of the bookbub ad is required.  Actually I kept it at 0.99 from 11th-18th taking advantage of my Amazon promo/

hotmom: see above and 1419 total sales for 13th on the book.  Also: I made it to

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #32 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

    #1 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Science Fiction & Fantasy > Science Fiction > Galactic Empire
    #1 in Books > Science Fiction & Fantasy > Science Fiction > Military > Space Fleet
    #1 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Science Fiction & Fantasy > Science Fiction > Military > Space Fleet

on that same day.

sales on the 14th = 268/40 for traditional/amazon-unlimited sales'

15th = 104/27

16th = 72/24

17th = 64/19

18th = 32/10 (reverted to 2.99)

19th = 10/31

Also FYI - I did a 2 day run up that took me from 3 a day sales to 8 a day before the bookbub hit.  This was other ads I tried.  I also tried a couple other ad sites after bookbub but nothing seemed to have a real impact other than bookbub.  But bookbub has more than a million their ads and the other guys are around 100k viewers they claim.

for book #2: Admiral's Gambit I had sales of

13th = 22/2

14th = 23/9

15th = 38/13

16th = 31/14

17th = 34/19

18th = 22/17 (reverted to 2.99)

19th = 15/15

Looks like a 3 or 4 day offset on the sale price between books in the series might be advantageous. That way as they finish one the next one goes on sale.

Do you plan on running another sale through Book Bub? I imagine getting selected for an add around the holidays might be a tough thing to do.

Bookbub has a few rules they won't advertise the same book more often than once every 6 months and an author can only advertize a maximum of one book per month.

I co-authored a couple of my brothers books the ones he wrote in my universe so I need to wait until after he' applied for one of his before I can try again.   Otherwise I would be!
