HDD Media Players
« on: 12/19-16:46 »

A couple months ago my daughter bought my wife and I a Media Player and I can honestly say we use it all the time now. It has allowed us to organize all our favorite movies and programs onto a few USB flash drives and play them automatically in the order we choose. No more having to Burn and Store tons of DVDs which only hold 5gb or 10gb.

Since we are members of a few streaming services, like Amazon Prime, Netflix, etc. we can download programs from all over the world then watch them at our leisure from the player. I connected a 4-1 USB adapter so we are able to plug in multiple drives at once.

The Media Player she got us is one of the less expensive ones and though it does have a couple idiosyncrasies we still are very happy with it.

Its response time to the remote is a little slow for my taste and periodically its HDMI output signal will drop enough for the TV to lose sync but just flipping the channel out and back is usually enough to resync things. Normally it will play for days without a problem so it's annoying but not a big issue. Another thing to note is it does not like drives formatted with Vista or Win7 NTFS. It does accept Fat32 and the NTFS used by XP and older Windows based servers.

The player does have many useful features; like allowing you to fit any video to your screen and a selection for sequential, random or repeated playing of videos, music or photos.

So if you're looking for a gift to treat yourself this year, a Media Player is something to think about.
